Once upon a time I dreamed
Of Christmas every night
Two lovers under mistletoe
Our love a candle light
But the snow is not as bright this year
The tree is brown, the lights are clear
And I wish that you were here
Shopping isn’t doing it for me this year
I bought a pair of glasses just to hide my tears
Christmastime without you only makes me sad
I guess Santa Claus can keep his bag
I tried to buy a bicycle
But all I got was wine
Then Sherry at the register
Called me, “Honey Pie”
Now I’m checking off your naughty list
And, Sherry’s name, it won’t be missed
Like the lips I wanna kiss
Nobody calls me “Honey” now that you’re not here
Certainly not Sherry while I hide my tears
Cause Christmastime without you only makes me sad
I guess Santa Claus can keep his bag
I saw two lovers walking
Through the park the other day
Wandered they so merrily
Then you passed by on your sleigh
I saw you had my necklace on
That fella, Tom, hung on your arm
You were singing him our song
Loving isn’t doing it for me this year
You’ve worn out all my dresses and you’re never here
Christmastime without you only makes me sad
So, please, Santa Claus—keep your bag

Silver and Gold

Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Everyone wishes for silver and gold
How do you measure its worth?
Just by the pleasure it gives here on Earth
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Means so much more when I see
Silver and gold decorations
On every Christmas tree
What's a Christmas tree without tinsel and pretty silver and gold decorations? Can't really call it a Christmas tree, now can you? And think of all the fun and joy that would be lost on Christmas morning if all the young folks didn't get to see that sparkling, happy tree.

Mercy For All

When Joseph of Judah first heard the news
That his wife’s baby boy was the king of the Jews
He thought long and hard and decided to go
Till the angel of God came to him and said, “No”
So Joe packed his bag and his new wife, Mary
And those two that left town would come back to town three
The third was the child who could set us all free
From the migrants down south to the rich shining sea
He has pulled down the princes, exalted the low
Fed the hungry good things, said the rich had to go
He called up on Peter, and he called up on Paul
He said mercy’s upon us, yes mercy for all
He called out to Simon, “Come fishing with me”
Did he carry a net, pole or water for three?
Still, Peter he came—except those hours before dawn
When he passed up the buck, as our man, he passed on
Struck down mighty Saul, said, “You son of a bitch
All this killing you're doing just makes my neck itch
And so I’m making you blind till I hope you might see:
All your murdering thunder ain’t doing for me”
He has pulled down the princes, exalted the low
Fed the hungry good things, said the rich had to go
He called up on Peter, and he called up on Paul
He said mercy’s upon us, yes mercy for all
Could you ever believe that this was the way
That the Lord up above chose to make his big play?
Not by sending an army or ship down from Mars
But a small baby boy who was born neath the stars
He has pulled down the princes, exalted the low
Fed the hungry good things, said the rich had to go
He called up on Peter, and he called up on Paul
He said mercy’s upon us, yes mercy for all
